A 19-year-old Kennesaw State University student is the new Miss Georgia.

Alyssa Beasley, of Brunswick, walked away with much more new hardware than a new crown and sash. Competing as Miss Southeast Georgia, she won the overall talent, evening gown and swimsuit awards, plus the two preliminary awards she won earlier this week.

Beasley performed an elegant lyrical dance to Ellie Goulding’s “When Your Feet Don’t Touch the Ground,” impressing the judges with endless pirouettes and flipping across the stage. Her white, long-sleeved evening gown featured a deep V-neck and draping that accentuated her petite frame.

Metro Atlanta queens performed well in the pageant, held at the River Center in Columbus. Miss Conyers Cherry Blossom Brooke Doss, a Kennesaw State graduate, was first runner-up. Miss Atlanta Paula Smith was named second runner-up, Miss Cobb County Chari Guzman placed third runner-up and Miss International City rounded out the top five as fourth runner-up.

Beasley will represent Georgia at the Miss America pageant in September.
