For its 2018 season opener, Johns Creek High School’s football team will travel more than 630 miles.
The road trip will take the Gladiators to a school just outside of the nation’s capital. On Aug. 25, the Gladiators will be in Chevy Chase, Maryland. There, they’ll clash with the St. John’s College High School Cadets, one of the nation’s best high school football teams.

"We've decided to take our talents to the nation's capital in 2018!" a tweet from the Gladiators' Twitter account read. "Play the best, be the best. Looking forward to battling it out with premiere football program and top 20 team in the nation."
St. John's finished this past season with a 9-2 record and ranked 22nd in the USA Today poll. Johns Creek finished 3-7.
The Cadets played teams from Florida, New Jersey, California and the D.C. area this past season, and even had a game air on ESPN. St. John's was led by seven three-star recruits, according to 247sports.com.
A kick-off time has not been set and full schedules for both teams haven’t been released yet. If they have time, maybe the team can stop by the Washington Monument, White House or Lincoln Memorial.
