Johns Creek approves road improvements

The Johns Creek City Council has given its stamp of approval to two road improvement projects.

Council members approved a new roundabout for Sargent and Crossington roads. The roundabout will be built by Blount Construction for roughly $448,000, and city officials hope it will both slow travel on Sargent and discourage commercial vehicles from using it as a cut-through between McGinnis Ferry and Jones Bridge roads. Work is expected to start in September and finish by year’s end.

The council also signed off on the $460,000 extension of a merge lane on Jones Bridge Road south of State Bridge Road, which will give drivers an additional 850 feet to merge into the single southbound lane. Work is expected to start in September and wrap by November and is part of a larger project to widen Jones Bridge from two to four lanes between State Bridge and Waters roads.
