A Gwinnett County restaurant was damaged in a late night fire, Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services said.

A fire crew responded to a 911 call about smoke coming from the Costa Azul Restaurant’s roof at 10:30 p.m. The smoke was “moderate” when first responders arrived to the building on Rockbridge Road in unincorporated Norcross.

Firefighters immediately entered the building to determine the source of the smoke. They found an active fire in a roof dormer above the restaurant’s front door and “quickly extinguished” it, a department spokesman said.

Nobody was inside the restaurant at the time of the fire and no firefighters were injured. The roof dormer was the only part of the restaurant damaged. A phone number for the restaurant could not be found.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
