Gwinnett's newest dine-and-watch movie theater hopes to open soon.

Ish.

Officials broke ground just over a year ago on the Carmike Ovation 11, which will bring movies, extensive food menus and a full-service bar to the Snellville Exchange retail center on Scenic Highway, just north of the Shoppes at Webb Gin. The plan all along has been for the theater to open sometime this year, but a public relations liaison for Carmike provided a more specific timeframe this week.

She said officials "anticipate" opening sometime in November.

The 55,000-square-foot theater is one of several projects under construction (or recently completed) in and around Snellville. Jim 'N Nick's Bar-B-Q recently opened a new restaurant in the same shopping center.

Just down Scenic Highway near Essex Drive, a Freddy's Frozen Custard and Steakburgers opened late last month. A new Zaxby's is expected to open sometime in SeptemberThat same development, dubbed Park Place, is expected to include a Cracker Barrel as well.

Gwinnett's first-ever Cook Out location is destined for Snellville, too.
