A Gwinnett County wing restaurant failed its recent health inspection after officials reported watching an employee preparing food without gloves.

Discover Wings, located at 1300 Indian Trail Road in Norcross, got a 67/U on the Thursday afternoon inspection.

The inspector reported seeing an employee "bare hand onions and lettuce that is being placed on ready gyro sandwich." The sandwich, and the containers of onions and lettuce, were discarded.

Other reported violations included not having a working thermometer; boxes of raw chicken stored on  the freezer floor; and chicken kept past its discard time.

"Person in charge could not provide document stating employees are aware of the employee health policy," the report said.

Multiple calls to Discover Wings went unanswered Friday morning.

A follow-up inspection will be completed within seven days of Thursday's failing evaluation, the report said.
