You can get your cat or dog up-to-date on their vaccinations at a low cost in Gwinnett County on Sunday.
The Society of Humane Friends of Georgia is partnering with the Gwinnett County Animal Shelter to provide pet vaccinations for between $5 and $15 each.
You can go to the shelter at 884 Winder Highway in Lawrenceville between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Sunday.
You can also have your pet microchipped for $25, allowing them to be scanned for information if they are ever lost. The microchip is implanted under the pet’s skin using a needle, similar to giving the pet a shot.
Strongid, a dewormer for cats and dogs, will be available for $5. Dog vaccines including those for bordatella, lepto, rabies and DHPP (distemper) and cat vaccines including those for rabies and FVRCCP (rhinotracheitis, calicivirus and panleukopenia) are $10. Canine influenza vaccines are $15 and require a booster shot two to four weeks after the initial shot.
The clinic is open to all pet owners who want to participate, not just Gwinnett County residents. Payment is only accepted in cash, and pets must be safely restrained, with dogs on a leash and cats in a crate.
