Update (5/12/17): The air conditioning is back on in the Georgia SPCA dog kennel, the shelter said.
The organization is still looking for a “long-term solution” to the air conditioning issue, but the dogs are cool for now, according to a Facebook post.
Original story (5/11/17): As temperatures are forecasted to reach up to 90 degrees, the Georgia SPCA is scrambling to try and replace an air conditioning unit in its dog kennel.
The air conditioner unexpectedly broke Wednesday, and the non-profit animal shelter doesn’t have the funds to replace it immediately, according to a Facebook post.
“This is an extreme expense we do not have the funds for,” the shelter wrote on Facebook.
Staff and volunteer have brought in multiple fans and are feeding the dogs ice cubes to keep them cool, but neither fully replaces the air conditioner, according to the post.
“The puppies are literally PANTING,” the post said.
Georgia SPCA accepts donations on its website. If you want to provide a fan or other cooling assistance, call the shelter at 678-765-2726. The shelter is located at 1175 Buford Hwy. Suite 109 in Suwanee.
