For the second time in recent days, a Georgia resident has died after a fall at a national or state park.
William Greg McCary, 57, of Rome, died Tuesday morning after he fell about 50 feet at the Little River Canyon National Preserve in northeast Alabama, officials said.
McCary reportedly fell after he climbed over a protective railing at a boardwalk in the park, which is part of the federal National Park Service, the Rome News-Tribune reported.
Park officials issued a reminder that the railings are there for visitors’ protection and climbing them can be dangerous, according to the newspaper.
