ORIGINAL STORY:The combined prizes for upcoming Mega Millions and Powerball are more than $730 million, Georgia Lottery officials said.

Tonight’s Mega Millions jackpot, which has rolled over 18 times since Jan. 9, is $318 million, and Wednesday’s Powerball jackpot, which has also rolled 18 times, has grown to $420 million, lottery spokeswoman Nia Roberts said.

Mega Millions offers two jackpot payment options: The first is a $318 million annuity prize paid out as one immediate payment followed by 29 annual graduated payments, while the second prize option is for about $187 million in cash.

Powerball’s $420 million jackpot prize can be paid over 29 years in 30 graduated payments or via $248 million in cash.

A Covington woman on Thursday won $10 million as the randomly selected grand prize winner of the Georgia Lottery’s $10 Million Cash Spectacular Extra Chance Promotion. She claimed her prize Friday at Georgia Lottery headquarters, Roberts said.

Proceeds from Georgia Lottery games, such as Mega Millions and Powerball, benefit education in the state.
