A day after it initially failed a health inspection, The Cooler at the Alpharetta Family Skate Center passed with flying colors.

According to a report, the Georgia Department of Public Health gave it a grade of 59/U on Tuesday, but then a 100/A on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, the inspector noted 12 violations in her report. A follow-up inspection was initially set for Jan. 30, but an inspector came back the next day and noted zero violations.

Tom Bardis, the center’s director of marketing, said it took employees “just 15 minutes to fix those things” it had been marked for.

Among the several violations Tuesday, the inspector noted seeing rotten tomatoes and spinach stored in a prep cooler that had “black discoloration” on them. She also spotted bacon not stored correctly, pasta sauce that wasn’t labeled, a container of popcorn stored on the floor next to bleach, bottled beverages stored on the floor and no thermometers in the walk-in cooler.

Bardis added that many of the coolers are new and had not installed thermometers yet, but the center did that shortly after the first inspection.

Despite the skate center passing its last two health inspections — with scores of 83/B and 96/A — its most current health inspection and its food service permit were not displayed, according to the failing report.
