Alpharetta wants its residents to know, if they see a bear it likely won’t be as friendly as Winnie the Pooh.
The city took to its Facebook page on Thursday to warn people about the dangers of bears. The post said that it is “unlikely that one will move in next door,” but a bear may sneak into a trash can or knock over a bird feeder.
Bears aren't uncommon in Alpharetta though. Media reports have recorded bear sightings there as recently as 2015. In 2013, one Channel 2 Action News viewer sent in a video of a young black bear roaming a Wal-Mart parking lot.
So far this year, bears have been spotted near Lake Lanier, Atlanta and Buckhead.
One person commented on the Alpharetta post that a bear was spotted in a backyard in Milton earlier this week.

“Think of them kind of like large, hairy teenagers and give them a wide berth until they figure things out,” the post from Alpharetta concludes.
Georgia's Department of Natural Resources and the national Humane Society has pages on its websites outlining what you should do if you see a bear.
