DeKalb County police have charged a man with felony murder after the death of a man during an argument at an apartment complex off I-20.
Robert Lee Hamilton Jr., 29, was arrested Friday in the death of Walter Leon Cook, 35, the sheriff’s office said.
Officers were called Monday night before 9 to Wesley Club Apartments after Cook was shot, a police report said. He had been in an argument with Hamilton, who had been asked to leave by Cook’s sister.
Cook’s sister has a child with Hamilton and said she wanted him to leave because she was fed up with the “lousy father,” the report said.

Hamilton is accused of pulling a gun during the argument.
Cook was shot twice, once in the chest, once in the right arm.
Cook pulled his own gun out after he was shot and fired at least once, the report said.
He then ran inside his apartment and fell in the dining room, as the shooter fled the scene. The report doesn’t say if the shooter was hit by Cook’s shot.
An apartment complex security guard attempted CPR on Cook. Cook was later taken to Grady Memorial Hospital but had no signs of life on the way, the report said.
Hamilton was also wanted on a family violence charge in a seperate case, the sheriff’s office said.
