You don’t really need to hang on to those CD’s collecting dust in your closet, do you? How about that cell phone from 2004 that’s laying in your junk drawer? Or that Game Boy you haven’t touched in 15 years?

If you have old electronics laying around the house, you can recycle them for free on Saturday in Alpharetta.

From 9 a.m. to noon, folks can drop off these items and recycle them for free at the Alpharetta Department of Public Safety's parking lot at 2565 Old Milton Parkway. The city and the Alpharetta Natural Resources Commission are hosting the event with a free document shredding initiative.

Here are the items you can recycle for free:

Desktops, CD-ROMS, printers, laptops, floppy drives, fax machines, servers, circuit boards, copiers, mainframes, power supplies, scanners, network hubs, hard drives, typewriters, network switches, UPS and UPS batteries, modems, cell phones, Ni-MH/Ni-CAD batteries, stereos, desktop phones and systems, lithium batteries, VCR’s, keyboards/mice, Blu-Ray players, radios, check processing machines, cables/wires, DVD players, gaming consoles, gaming controllers, CD players, LCD monitors, toner/inkjet cartridges.

Some items may not be acceptable and other items, like televisions, can cost up to $20 to recycle.

For more information, check out the event's flyer.
