We all have heard of the term “spring cleaning,” but what about summer cleaning?

To help folks clean out their junky sheds, garages, attics and other rooms, Sandy Springs is hosting a free event where people can dispose of household hazardous wastes for free. The event is only open to Sandy Springs residents.

The event will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Morgan Falls Athletic Fields at 450 Morgan Falls Road. It will be held on Saturday, June 17.

Items accepted include paints, solvents, cleaners, herbicides, pesticides, motor oil, antifreeze, cooking oils, pool chemicals, propane cylinders and old smoke detectors.

Medical waste, needles, ammunition and electronics are some of the items not accepted.

Sandy Springs residents must pre-register for the event and can do so by visiting KeepNorthFultonBeautiful.org.
