Three dogs were rescued from a house fire in Duluth on Thursday, Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services said.

Firefighters arrived at a house on Rhoanoke Drive at 8:32 a.m., after a teenage resident waiting for the school bus saw smoke and asked neighbors to call 911. Smoke could be seen coming from the single-story home.

When firefighters entered the house, they found three dogs in crates and removed them from the home. The dogs did not suffer any injuries, but the house suffered extensive damage from the fire. No people were home at the time of the fire.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined and is still under investigation, said Capt. Tommy Rutledge.
