DeKalb County officials are urging safety as heavy rains cause some roads to become perilous Wednesday.

On Shallowford Road, standing water is causing trouble for drivers, Channel 2 Action News reported. In Brookhaven, Goodwin Road has a similar problem, and the city is monitoring other roads. In Doraville, well-traveled Peachtree Industrial Boulevard on the southbound side was closed near Tilly Mill Road, city police said.

Channel 2 reported that the county said it is responding as fast as possible to problem roads and reported lightning strikes, as well as downed trees.

The county emergency management center on Twitter cautioned drivers against traversing roads covered in rain.

Just stay home, the agency suggested.

There were several inches of standing water on Shallowford Road Wednesday.
