DeKalb County police are investigating the death of a man who was reportedly shot while trying to drive away from an argument Monday night.

Justuss Rogers, 26, of Decatur was in an argument with several people off South Hairston Road around 8:30 p.m., after he’d come to drop off a woman, a report released Wednesday said. Rogers stayed in his Chevrolet Camaro there on Pinnacle Drive while the people he was arguing with were outside.

Rogers and one man were both pulling at the driver’s-side door when the man outside pulled a gun and started to fire, the report said.

Rogers threw the Camaro in reverse and struck two vehicles in the process. The car came to rest on a curb.

Paramedics took Rogers to Grady Memorial Hospital.

In the car, police found a handgun, though it wasn’t clear whose it was, along with three or four shell casings.

It wasn’t clear in the report if the wreck contributed to Rogers’ death or if it was only the shooting.

Further information wasn’t released.
