A Decatur man remained jailed Wednesday on charges he broke into a Brookhaven home and molested a child.

Jose Bermudez, 47, who was arrested Friday, is accused of burglarizing the home on Jan. 2, finding the girl and taking her to her bedroom, according to warrants released this week.

He then allegedly took off the 14-year-old’s clothes, kissed her and touched her in the home off Buford Highway, the warrants say.

Bermudez is charged with child molestation, kidnapping and burglary.

The documents don’t reveal further information, including why the home would’ve been chosen.

Jail records show he has $60,000 bond but is also being held for immigration authorities.
