DeKalb County police are searching for a suspect after the second shooting in five months at a Lithonia Wal-Mart.

Late Friday afternoon, a loss prevention officer was shot while trying to stop a man suspected of stealing DVDs, a police report said. In December a 16-year-old boy was accused of shooting a man at the same Fairington Road store.

The most recent victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment to his shot left foot.

The suspect had been seen putting 12 DVDs in his jacket, the report said.

A struggle ensued when the suspected thief was confronted. He pulled a semiautomatic handgun out, shot the guard and ran, the report said.

As of Monday afternoon, he hadn’t been identified.
