Police in Roswell are investigating an extortion threat that cost a man hundreds of dollars.
The suspect, who police say is a Hispanic male, called the 26-year-old victim on May 3 at 5:30 p.m. and threatened to kill him and his family if he didn’t come up with some cash. After the victim, who police also identified as Hispanic, sent the caller $400, the suspect came back for more.
Police said that’s when the suspect sent the victim a video of someone being murdered and demanded an additional $1,000. Police believe the caller pulled that video from the internet.
The victim then contacted Roswell police on May 4. The report does not say whether the two men knew each other.
