Decatur police are investigating after a man said he was carjacked with a rifle near Delta Community Credit Union downtown Saturday night.
Just before 10 p.m., officers responded to West Ponce de Leon Avenue. The man said he’d pulled into a parking space in the lot near the bank to use his phone when another car parked nearby, police said.
“Moments later, the back doors to his vehicle opened and two males got into his backseat,” Lt. Jennifer Ross said. “One of the suspects had a rifle. The suspects told the victim to give up what he had and the victim handed over $1,000 in cash and his cell phone.”
Police haven’t said why the man would be targeted.

The men told the victim, who wasn’t harmed, to get out and then fled with his brown 2012 Chrysler 300, which bears the Georgia tag CFW9122.
The suspect’s car also left.
Police haven’t announced any arrests.
