Two men were arrested in Lawrenceville last week after they and their dogs got into a fight.

Thomas Duett and Rodney Summerour were charged with congregating for a fight and cited for having unregistered pit pulls after the June 6 incident.

Duett was walking his dog without a leash on Honeysuckle Avenue in Lawrenceville that day. Summerour saw Duett’s dog, Bella, on his lawn and “turned his own dog loose,” telling it to “get” Bella, a police report said.

The dogs began to fight. Duett told police he took out a knife and tried to separate the dogs. He threatened to kill Summerour’s dog if it did not let go of Bella, he told a police officer.

Summerour then began to fight with Duett, the report said. Summerour told the officer he went after Duett because of the knife.

The fights between the men and the dogs were broken up when police arrived. Summerour and Duett were arrested and both were released on $729 bond on June 8.

Summerour’s dog’s name was not included in the police report.
