Early Wednesday, a DeKalb County man’s plot to rape a taxi driver was disrupted by good Samaritans, police said.

Bernabe Perez-Hernandez, 33, of Dunwoody caught a ride with the woman at a nightclub at 5:30 a.m., according to Chamblee police.

She took him to the Buford Lodge near the intersection of Buford Highway and Chamblee-Tucker Road, where he said he lives. In the parking lot, he appeared to be sleeping, police said in a post on Facebook.

The woman got out and went to the back to wake the man.

“The male woke up, forcefully grabbed the driver, pulled her to a secluded area behind the hotel, proceeded to push her down on the ground and attempted to take her clothes off,” police alleged. “Three males heard the commotion and scared the male and he ran away.”

Officers responded and found the man hiding in a tree near the complex, police said.

He was charged with kidnapping and criminal attempt to rape. He remained in jail Thursday morning without bond.
