He’s 35. She’s 13.

But DeKalb County School police say Josh Robinson, a now-former Columbia Middle student engagement coach, took her shopping and molested her.

Warrants released this week say the allegations surfaced after the girl’s father found “many texts” between Robinson and student on her phone. DeKalb's engagement coaches support a caseload of students who need help with things like attendance, performance and behavior.

The documents allege Robinson, who was arrested Friday, bought things for the teen and took her places. One place was a strip mall parking lot on Candler Road, where a sex act occurred, police say.

He is also accused of groping her at the school.

The dates of the alleged crimes range from October to March.

In a letter to parents last week, principal Keith Jones said:

“As with all matters of student safety, we take this incident very seriously and have acted accordingly in the best interests of our young men and women.”

Charged with molestation, sexual battery and enticing a child, Robinson was fired.

He is out on $25,000 bond, jail records show.

Efforts to reach him by phone and to locate his attorney weren’t successful Wednesday.
