A man suspected of several crimes throughout metro Atlanta — including a fatal shooting outside a Pappadeaux in Marietta — was recently indicted.

A Cobb County grand jury indicted Dylan Marquis Ledbetter earlier this month on charges of aggravated assault and obstructing an officer for an Oct. 15 incident that Cobb police say almost ended in an officer being run over by a car Ledbetter was driving.

Police tried to pull over Ledbetter in a Ford Focus hatchback thought to be connected to an Oct. 7 shooting outside a Marietta location of Pappadeaux. That shooting left Anthony Welch dead over a $5 piece of costume jewelry and his wife of 25 years injured.

Instead of stopping, Ledbetter sped toward officers who shot at the car hitting his arm and leg.

Sgt. Dana Pierce, Cobb police spokesman, said Ledbetter has not been charged with a crime in the Pappadeaux case. But the department is waiting on lab results from the Georgia Bureau of Investigations.

“Once we get those results back, we anticipate on filing charges,” he said. “For the most part, we have concluded our investigation.”

Ledbetter was 22 when he was booked into jail Oct. 18, 2016, and has remained there since.

Investigators have released few details about the armed robberies they think Ledbetter has been involved in, but the crimes follow a pattern involving snatching necklaces.

One of those robberies supposedly took place in Sandy Springs days after the Pappadeaux shooting. In this robbery, a woman told police she was holding her 1 year old and just getting home when a man snatched a gold chain off of her and the child.

Another possible victim of Ledbetter, this one out of Woodstock, claimed a necklace was stolen at gunpoint.

Channel 2's Tom Regan reports suspects arrested in Woodstock could be involved.

Along with the armed robberies, Ledbetter is also wanted in Broward County, Florida, on an attempted murder charge.

Pierce said he isn’t aware of any extradition paperwork having been filed for Ledbetter out of Florida.
