Anyone with a real Christmas trees should recyclable, say experts with the National Christmas Tree Association. After the holidays, don’t throw your tree in the trash or set it on the curb. Real Christmas trees are biodegradable, which means they can be easily reused or recycled for mulch and other purposes.
Tree recycling and mulching programs are a fast-growing trend in communities throughout the nation. They chip and shred the trees, then make the mulch available for use in your garden.
The city of Atlanta Department of Public Works and the Keep Atlanta Beautiful Commission are hosting their annual Bring One for the Chipper event 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 6.
Participants will receive a mixed oak or dogwood seedling, vegetable or flower seed packet for recycling your tree, while supplies last.
