For his birthday, Brookhaven police believe Atlanta teen Joseph Maxwell Woodruff got a new car.

Trouble was, it belonged to someone else — a woman who police say lost her vehicle after being struck in the face and head with a revolver. She was fighting back. She was pushed to the ground.

Police say it happened just after midnight Tuesday in the parking lot of the Exxon station at 2055 North Druid Hills Road.

Woodruff had just turned 19. Fellow suspect Patrick Antonio Caesar, also of Atlanta, had his 21st last Wednesday.

Police say they identified the men as the suspects by surveillance camera footage. Also, when cops found the car, the suspects were sleeping in it, according to warrants.

Before Woodruff's birthday was over, he and Caesar were charged with aggravated assault and hijacking a motor vehicle. Caesar also faces a gun charge.

They were booked in the DeKalb County jail, where they remained Thursday without bond.
