A man was hit by a car on I-20 West at I-285 and died Wednesday night, police said.

As police responded, the man was unconscious but breathing, Atlanta police Officer Stephanie Brown said. He later died at Grady Memorial Hospital, police said.

Lanes were shut down for more than an hour.

The pedestrian incident was the third in a week.

A woman was hit Tuesday night by multiple cars on the Downtown Connector, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution previously reported.

Three southbound drivers hit the woman as she tried to cross the highway just before 8 p.m., according to Atlanta police. Only one driver stayed on the scene near the University Avenue exit. That driver will not be charged, police said.

On Friday, 19-year-old Kaden Campbell was struck and killed by an SUV while attempting to cross the connector.
