Welcome to "Actual Factual," a regular column in which I, Becca Godwin, answer reader questions about goings-on in north Fulton. Here's one I did recently about what’s being built near Johns Creek City Hall. Now that you're familiar, you'll find information for submitting your own questions at the bottom of this column.

Reader Maddie asks: What is going in where the old Sports Authority was on North Point Pkwy? It looks like they are refurbishing it to open as a new store.

Maddie, I’m so glad you asked.

The Mansell Crossing Sports Authority closed in 2016, much to the chagrin of every nostalgic sap whose parents would escort them there as an excited kid about to try a new sport.

And while the sign at the entrance to the plaza still touts the old store’s name, the space looks very different from when it was filled with cleats, gloves and the like.

Instead, you’ll find... couches, beds and tables.

The new store, located at 7461 N Point Pkwy, will be American Signature Furniture.

It’s set to open in February, according to a customer care employee reached on the phone.

The chain already has at least seven Georgia locations, but this will be the first in north Fulton.
