Welcome to "Actual Factual," a regular column in which I, Becca Godwin, answer reader questions about goings-on in north Fulton. Here's one I did recently about why Hembree and Crabapple is such a mess. Now that you're familiar, you'll find information for submitting your own questions at the bottom of this column. Cheers!
Reader Sunny asks: What is being built next to the Sky Zone on Old Alabama Road?
Hi there, Sunny. Fantastic name. It's nearly as fantastic as your question about who's moving in next to Sky Zone Trampoline Park.
I’m happy to report I have an answer for you.
MORE ACTUAL FACTUAL:
What's going on with the Southern Skillet property?
Here it is: The city is building a new, 15,000-square-foot station to replace the current Fire Station 4 location on Holcomb Bridge Road.
It will tentatively be open in March or April, a Roswell spokeswoman confirmed.
"At this time the plans for the current station/property is to be sold," she said in an email. (Side note: In Cobb, an old fire station is listed at $300K. Ain't that something?)
Anywho, Sunny, here’s some more info.
The new two-story building will be situated on three acres, will house sleeping quarters on the top floor and living quarters on the ground floor, and will feature three drive-through bays, according to a city release.
The new structure — which will also include larger service areas designed for modern fire-fighting equipment and an improved structure with energy efficient fixtures and appliances — will completely replace the existing fire station "without modifying the way in which the service areas are defined," according to a city report. (Fun fact: Roswell is served by seven fire stations.)
And there you have it, Sunny. I hope that was enlightening!
