Gwinnett County police continue to look for a man and woman who stole more than a half-million dollars worth of jewelry during a violent armed robbery last week.
The robbery occurred about 10 a.m. Wednesday at Kay Jewelers in the 1300 block of Scenic Highway.
Gwinnett police Cpl. Jake Smith said the male suspect entered the store first, and asked an employee about some merchandise.
“As the employee approached the display case island in the middle of the store, the male suspect produced a black handgun,” Smith said. “He ordered the two employees – the only people in the store – to the floor.”
The gunman’s female accomplice then entered the store, retrieved a key from the employees and began unlocking display cases and loading jewelry into a bag.
The male suspect attempted to use zip ties to bind one of the employees, but was unsuccessful, Smith said.
“As the two suspects prepared to leave the store, the female suspect produced a stun gun and used it on both employees, shocking one of them three times,” Smith said.
He said the suspects fled with more than $500,000 in jewelry and about $200 in cash.
The male suspect was black, 24 to 30 years old, about 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighed about 155 pounds. He had short hair and was clean shaven, and was wearing a tan hat, sunglasses, a t-shirt with a plaid long sleeve shirt over it, tan pants and blue and white shoes.
The female suspect was black, 24 to 30 years old, about 5 feet, 5 inches tall and weighed about 120 pounds. She had long, dark hair and was wearing a gray baseball cap, sunglasses, yellow shirt, black jeans, black shoes and black gloves.
