Folks driving on Crossville Road in Roswell might turn and ask, “What’s being built there?” when they pass the under-construction patch of land across from Bent Grass Drive.

The answer: A retirement community is coming to Roswell.

Construction began Jan. 31 for the Vickery Rose Resort Lifestyle Community, a group of a 130 apartment units. Mark Wolff, the deputy director of community development for the City of Roswell, said the project could take 12 to 18 months to complete.

Prior to construction, not much stood on the patch of land besides “two or three abandoned homes,” Wolff said.

Wolff estimates that Vickery Rose will create 35 to 45 new jobs too.

Based in Lincoln, Nebraska, Resort Lifestyle Communities has 27 locations across the nation. Vickery Rose will be its first in Georgia, but it also has homes in Tallahassee, Birmingham, Charleston and Chattanooga.

Twelve floor plans will be available at Vickery Rose, with options ranging from studio apartments to three bedrooms.
