Southern Crescent Technical College will begin construction on a second building at its Henry County campus after getting approval from county officials this week.

County Commissioners approved a measure to accept an easement to satisfy a condition of valid property interest as stipulated in the SPLOST IV referendum. The county will give $5 million toward the 80,000 square-foot facility. The state has apportioned $20.9 million for the building, which is set to open in January 2018.

The Southern Crescent Technical College’s Henry Center opened for classes in the summer of 2014. The Henry Center is expected to eventually be an eight-building campus offering a wide array of technical and skilled educational classes and services.
