Officials from Cobb County Schools and Paulding County Schools said classes are canceled Monday after snowfall left several schools without power and affected travel through the area.

In a note posted to Twitter just before 1 p.m. Sunday, district officials said “continued power outages at multiple schools and poor travel conditions” contributed to the decision.

The district was the first in metro Atlanta to cancel classes on Monday, after the region received up to a half a foot of snow in some areas.

DeKalb County School District officials announced Sunday that classes would resume Monday, after letting students out several hours early Friday as snow and rain fell steadily. Marietta City Schools, also in Cobb County, said on Twitter officials were monitoring conditions.
