DeKalb County School District’s 2017-18 calendar includes the first day of school, holidays, seasonal breaks, teacher planning days, early release days and the last day of school.

Here are some key dates for DeKalb parents to know:

  • The first day of school will be Aug. 7.
  • Fall Break will be Oct. 5-9 (including Columbus Day).
  • Thanksgiving Break will be Nov. 20-24.
  • Winter break will begin Dec. 21, and students return to school on Jan. 4.
  • Spring break will be April 2-6.
  • The last day of the 2017-18 school year will be May 24.

After Tropical Storm Irma knocked out power and forced schools to close for four days, DeKalb students will make up the days in two ways.

The school day will be extended by 20 minutes during the month October. Students will also attend school on Election Day, Nov. 7, while two other make-up days have not been determined yet.
