A woman claiming to be with “the water company” lured a couple outside to rob the Roswell home, officials said.
Taylor Lalli told Channel 2 Action News he was surprised to see police after his Putting Green Lane neighbor’s house was robbed.
“It’s nuts,” Lalli said. “Nothing like that happens in this neighborhood. It’s the most quiet neighborhood I’ve ever lived in.”
Roswell police spokeswoman Lisa Holland told Channel 2 that a woman knocked on the door and told the residents a water main was broken and she needed them to come around to the back of the house.
While the older couple waited outside, the woman spoke to someone in Spanish on a walkie talkie.
A few hours later, the couple realized a lot of jewelry was missing, Holland said.
Police urge residents to double check credentials when someone claims to represent a utility company.
