A search is underway for a “violent” man accused of beating two roommates with a hammer in south Fulton County, police said.

Fairburn police officers have been looking for Jonathon Lafon since Tuesday, when they were dispatched to a fight on Carll Court in the Creekwood Village subdivision just before 8 p.m.

“Police believe the incident stemmed from a domestic dispute between the three individuals,” the department said in a statement.

Police on the scene found a man and woman seriously injured with lacerations to the face, head and neck outside a home.

Both “stated that Lafon ... was still inside the home and that he had injured them,” police said in the statement. They told officers that Lafon was armed with an AK-47 and other firearms.

A SWAT team went inside the home but did not find him.

“We evacuated all of the homes around the suspect’s home until the SWAT team finished,” Fairburn police Deputy Chief Anthony Bazydlo told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “This was specifically on Carll Court.”

The entire neighborhood was blocked, but not evacuated, near the entrance, he said. Cars and pedestrians could not pass through from 9 p.m. Tuesday to 1 a.m. Wednesday.

Doctors are treating the injured man and woman at a hospital.

Lafon is wanted on two counts of aggravated assault, police said. He is 6 feet and 190 pounds, and has tattoos on his hands.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to call 911.
