The driver of a tractor-trailer that was hauling cattle was given a citation after his truck overturned Thursday, shutting down I-75 for hours and killing 10 cows, police said.

Cobb County police charged Nathaniel Ledford, 26, of Knoxville, Tenn., for failing to maintain his lane after he allegedly overcorrected and struck his vehicle into the end of a guard rail, according to a news release. Ledford was not injured, but 10 of the 19 cows he was hauling died.

The Georgia State Patrol and HERO units assisted in the cleanup. A section of I-75 near Ga. 92 was closed from about 5 a.m. until just after 7 a.m.
