Powder Springs police said a woman shot a man while they were seated in cars parked side by side in a Cobb County subdivision Monday.

LaTasha Whitfield, 30, of Atlanta, will be charged with two counts of aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and battery, according to Powder Springs Deputy police Chief Matt Boyd. Whitfield was taken to the Cobb County Adult Detention Center.

The victim, Octavious Dixon, 33, of Powder Springs, is alert and cooperating after being taken to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital for treatment, police said.

The incident took place in the area of Groveland Park Drive near New Macland Road. Police said Whitfield, driving a white Dodge Charger, fired at Dixon, who was in a black Dodge Challenger.

The number of gunshots is unknown. Whitfield fled the area, but police said they found her in her car in the area of C.H. James Parkway and Brownsville Road with a gun in plain sight.

The man and woman were not married and their connection is not yet known, but police believe the incident is isolated and domestic related.
