Two boys were arrested Tuesday after police said they stole a car and crashed it while trying to drive into DeKalb County officers.

The suspects were taken to a hospital following a crash into a concrete wall on David Drive. The Honda Fit they were driving was reported stolen from a home on Embry Hills Drive moments before, according to a police report.

Two officers were standing near their patrol cars about 3:30 a.m. investigating several other car break-ins on Embry Circle, DeKalb police spokeswoman Michaela Vincent said. They saw the Honda speeding toward them.

“Our officer was able to move out of the way of the vehicle before the driver vehicle struck the officer’s patrol car,” Vincent said in an emailed statement. “Moments later, the driver of the vehicle turned onto David Drive and hit a concrete wall.”

No officers were harmed, she said.

Both boys have been arrested. Their names are not being released because they are minors.

The incident remains under investigation.
