Police have identified the man’s body that was found slumped against the front door of a Cobb County residence Wednesday morning.
Anton Balentay Watson, 35, of Smyrna, was dead from an apparent gunshot wound, Cobb police Sgt. Dana Pierce said in a news release Thursday. The residence was on Golden Pine Road near Austell.
Police think Watson was connected with a car that was abandoned near the intersection of Cityview Drive and Golden Pine Road, Pierce said. The car was stolen, according to a police check Wednesday.
Also, Cobb police said a Marietta man was found dead Oct. 19 about 9 p.m. on Austell Road near Milford Elementary School in Marietta. The body of Rogelio Gonzalez Chairez, 51, was on the sidewalk near the intersection with Dorothy Drive, dead of a gunshot wound, Pierce said.
The Cobb County Medical Examiner’s Office has taken custody of the bodies and will rule on the official manner and cause of the deaths.
