A Middle Georgia woman was charged Monday with felony murder after she pushed her paraplegic ex-boyfriend out of her car and let him die in the woods, officials said.

Ruby Kate Coursey, 27, of Thomaston, is accused of leaving Troymaine Johnson, 33, at a hunting camp in Upson County, which is about 76 miles south of downtown Atlanta.

According to the investigation, Coursey picked up Johnson in Fort Valley on March 14 to go for a ride or a possible trip to the store, the Macon Telegraph reported. She allegedly left his wheelchair in the home he shared with his grandmother.

Johnson’s body was discovered March 17, the Macon Telegraph reported. Coursey’s brother and sister-in-law were the ones who told Thomaston police she left Johnson at the hunting camp, according to the Telegraph.

In addition to felony murder, Coursey was charged with felony neglect of a disabled adult after an autopsy determined the cause of death was homicide as a result of hypothermia.
