A Dawson County mother was jailed on cruelty charges Monday after her 18-month-old suffered extensive injuries, officials said.

Amy Lynn King’s son had a broken arm, broken legs and electrical burns on his hands and feet, according to Channel 2 Action News.

King’s friend, 29-year-old Mitchell DeWayne Samples of Dawsonville, was also arrested in connection with the child’s injuries, but he had not been charged as of Tuesday.

Dawson County Sheriff Jeff Johnson said a felony cruelty charge was levied against King because she lanced blisters on her son’s feet and hands, causing him excessive pain.

Misdemeanor charges against the mother stem from accusations of failing to take her son to a doctor or seek immediate medical care when she said she knew something was wrong with his arm, Johnson said.
