A Carrollton man was convicted Thursday of beating an officer outside a Wal-Mart in Princeton, West Virginia.

Michael Wayne Lowery, 55, was found guilty of assaulting a West Virginia State Trooper in June 2015, according to the West Virginia Metro News radio network.

Lowery and the Senior State Trooper J.R. Tupper got into an altercation that left Tupper with head injuries, according to the media outlet. Lowery used Tupper’s retractable metal baton to beat him.

Lowery has not yet been sentenced.
