Gwinnett County police Wednesday were investigating a shooting in an upscale neighborhood near Lawrenceville that left a man dead.
Officers received a tip just before midnight Tuesday of a possibly deceased man inside a home in the 2700 block of River Station Court, in the River Station Estates subdivision, Gwinnett police Cpl. Michele Pihera said.
“When the officers arrived at the home to do a welfare check, they went inside and found a young black male who was deceased,” Pihera said in an email.
“Officers found that the victim had at least one gunshot wound, but investigators were not be able to determine if he had any other injuries until an autopsy can be performed,” she said, adding that police do not know how long the victim had been dead.
Wednesday afternoon, police identified the victim as 25-year-old Jeffery Anderson.
No further information was provided.
