The longtime police chief of a Middle Georgia city died Tuesday night, according to multiple media reports.

Harold Cannon, 67, of Oglethorpe, died at a business meeting in Savannah, the Macon Telegraph reported. Oglethorpe is about 130 miles south of downtown Atlanta.

“He said he didn’t feel good and he just collapsed,” Macon County Coroner Brenda Oglesby told the Telegraph. “A massive heart attack is what they’re saying.”

Cannon was chief of Oglethorpe police for 31 years, according to WXGA-TV in Macon. His son Wesley is the police chief of Byron.
