Three Cobb County officers injured in a crash Tuesday afternoon are at home recovering, officials said.

Sgt. Paul Garrett, who was treated for serious injuries and suffered multiple fractures, was released from WellStar Kennestone Hospital but will still require medical intervention, Cobb County Sgt. Wayne Delk said in a news release Wednesday.

Officers Justin Bullis and Brian Kynard were treated for scrapes, bumps and bruises and released, Delk said.

The men were headed back to the precinct after participating in a funeral detail when their motorcycles slid on a patch of ice on Due West Road, Cobb County officials said in a Facebook post.

It was later confirmed a water line leak caused the icy patch, which crews were not aware of until after the crash, Cobb officials said. The leak has since been fixed.

The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the crash.
