Two children were shot and killed early Saturday in a home invasion in Clayton County, police said.

A 15-year-old boy, identified as Daveon Coats, and an 11-year-old girl, identified as Tatiana Coats, were the victims, Clayton County police spokeswoman Sgt. Ashanti Marbury said. Shots were heard in the area of the incident, which was on Libby Lane in Jonesboro, about 5 a.m.

The parents were not at home at the time of the incident, Marbury said. It is believed they were socializing at another location.

Other children ages 6-13 were in the home, and are safe. The investigation is ongoing.
