Authorities in Cherokee County are seeking three men who robbed an employee at gunpoint and took three vehicles from an automobile dealership Friday morning.

One of the cars crashed shortly after the  incident, which happened just after 6:15 a.m. at Shottenkirk Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in the 200 block of Liberty Boulevard in Canton, police said in a news release.

The men confronted an employee in the service department and took his phone and three sets of keys from the counter, authorities said. Each man took a vehicle and drove away.

One of the vehicles crashed near the I-575 ramp at Ga. 92 after a Cherokee County deputy saw it headed south on the freeway and attempted a traffic stop, according to authorities. The driver ran and couldn’t be found.

The men were described as being in their early 20s.

The unrecovered vehicles were:

  • 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee, black, with Georgia tag RGP4223;
  • 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee, black, with a dealer drive-out tag.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call 911.
